Set up Two-Factor Authentication for Your Hosting cPanel
Two-Factor Authentication 2FA for cPanel
Overview
Two-Factor Authentication 2FA is essential to web security because it immediately neutralises the risks associated with compromised passwords. If a password is hacked, guessed, or even phished, that’s no longer enough to give an intruder access: without approval at the second factor, a password alone is useless.
Protect your website, your business, your hosting, by enabling 2FA on your hosting cPanel.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security measure that requires two forms of identification.
Notification if someone tries to access your account
-
- Firstly Log in to your account. If you can’t locate your original documentation upon sign-up of your hosting account, there is a login link on the bottom of your annual hosting invoice. Failing that, please call us at Living Host or Living Web Design to assist you.
- Have your 2FA phone app ready
Two Factor Authentication 2FA requires a smartphone with a supported time-based one-time password (TOTP) app. We suggest the following apps:
- For Android™, iOS®, and Blackberry® — Google Authenticator™
- For Android and iOS — Duo Mobile
- For Windows® Phone — Authenticator
- When logged into your cPanel, navigate to the SECURITY SECTION – and click on to Two-Factor Authentication and follow the prompts to scan the QR code with your Authenticator App and then enter the Six Digit Code.
